SFC report shows increase in retention rate for care-experienced undergraduates

The retention rate for care-experienced students at universities in Scotland increased to more than 90 per cent last year, a Scottish Funding Council report has shown.

According to the Report on Widening Access, there was a 0.3 percentage-point year-on-year increase in the proportion of full-time first-degree entrants that were care experienced—meaning any student who is currently in care or has been in care at any point in their life—from 1.2 in 2019-20 to 1.5 per cent last year. The retention rate for care-experienced students also rose, from 87 per cent to 91 per cent, during the same period.
