Unconditional offers have ‘small’ effect on dropout rate

Other factors such as gender and mental health are more important, finds OfS analysis

Students who start university after receiving an unconditional offer are slightly more likely to drop out than those whose offer was conditional, but other factors play a more important role in continuation rates.

Data on unconditional offers and continuation rates, published by the Office for Students on 19 May, show a “small but statistically significant” difference in continuation rates for students in 2019-20 depending on the type of offer received.
