A-level results: acceptances fall at high-tariff universities

Number of 18-year-olds finding places falls, but other institutions see growth

The number of 18-year-olds accepted to high-tariff institutions has fallen 9 per cent on last year, but acceptances are still higher than in 2019.

Data published by admissions body Ucas on A-level results day show that high-tariff institutions, which require higher grades for a place on their courses, have accepted around 104,400 18-year-olds—down from the 115,300 recruited at the same point in 2021.
