Principles set out ‘essential function’ of external examiners

Group publishes guidance on external examiner role amid push for degree standards

UK universities have agreed on a set of principles outlining the role of external examiners in protecting academic standards.

The principles were published on 15 August by the Quality Assurance Agency, Universities UK and Guild HE on behalf of the UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment (UKSCQA).
