Working-class university staff ‘facing discrimination’, says UCU

Union calls on institutions to tackle class-based barriers

Three in five working-class staff in universities and colleges say they are victims of class-based discrimination, a University and College Union report has found.

According to the UCU survey of staff working in post-16 education, the majority of those identifying as working class believe that their class is a barrier to recruitment, career progression and networking opportunities.
