Scheme promised last year launches, giving resettlement pathway to Chevening and British Council scholars
Five months after international forces left the country as the Taliban swept to power, the government’s Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme has officially opened, meaning that Chevening alumni and British Council workers in Afghanistan will be able to come to the UK.
Victoria Atkins, minister for Afghan resettlement and Conservative MP for Louth & Horncastle, told MPs on 6 January that alumni of the Chevening scholars scheme could be resettled in the UK, as first announced by the Home Office in December 2021.
