National Student Survey reforms could introduce questions on free speech and mental wellbeing

Students in England could be asked about the extent to which their institution facilitates free speech on campus, under reforms to the National Student Survey proposed by the Office for Students.

On 6 January, the OfS launched the 2022 NSS, which gives final-year undergraduates the opportunity to give feedback on their higher education experience. A sample of students who take part in the survey will also be asked to complete a “pilot” questionnaire, which contains a set of questions that could replace the existing ones from 2023.
