Funders must dismantle ‘many barriers’ to access, says report

“Systematic, coordinated approach” needed from universities and funders to break down barriers for marginalised groups

Universities and funders should “redouble” efforts to break down the barriers preventing marginalised groups from receiving equitable research funding, according to a report by the University of Oxford.

Despite equality, diversity and inclusion being emphasised across the sector in recent years, researchers who are women, from ethnic minorities, disabled or LGBT+ continue to be at a disadvantage when applying for funding in the UK.
