Higher education needs to get better at explaining its value, says Chris Skidmore
Last month I was delighted to be appointed co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Universities, working alongside current chair Daniel Zeichner. The group plays an important role in ensuring MPs and peers understand the issues facing higher education. I hope my involvement can help keep the focus on a sector whose continued success is vital at this critical time.
Universities are facing a perfect storm. As well as huge financial challenges, there is uncertainty around international recruitment, the welfare of existing students and the transition to blended learning for the next academic year.
