Independence Day dawns for researchers getting to grips with Supreme Court's abortion ruling
Today is America’s 246th Independence Day—a day when millions of Americans gather to celebrate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, often by drinking ice-cold beers, eating hotdogs and blasting Miley Cyrus’s Party in the USA on repeat.
While there will no doubt be widespread flag-waving, fireworks and festivities, there may be a faction of partygoers who aren’t feeling particularly festive today. Not everyone is feeling proud to be an American right now, with record-breaking numbers of school shootings, increasing financial hardship for everyone but the super-rich, disturbing details of Trump’s attempted coup on January 6th, and the efforts of multiple states to ban abortion.
