Senators in the United States Congress have passed major legislation for upgrading the country’s infrastructure—a key plank of president Joe Biden’s campaign platform, which includes funding for clean energy and transport R&D.
The $1 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which includes $550 billion in new spending, was passed by the Senate with Republican support on 10 August after months of negotiation between the two major parties.
