House representative links move to funding of Wuhan lab, amid scientific scepticism of law change

US lawmakers are considering a ban on biomedical research agencies funding research in China and other countries designated as foreign adversaries, such as Russia, North Korea and Iran.

Earlier this month, the House Committee on Appropriations voted to advance an amendment that would prevent the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from supporting research in China. The amendment was part of the committee’s proposed fiscal year 2023 funding package for public health agencies.
