AAAS 2023: National Institute of Standards and Technology director raises concerns over decaying research infrastructure

Critical research facilities in the United States are suffering from neglect because lawmakers are not providing enough funding for repairs, according to the head of a major government agency.

“We have extraordinary scientists and engineers working in facilities that are decaying and flooding every day,” Laurie Locascio told delegates at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) on 4 March.
