$70m for minority researchers ‘welcome but far from enough’

Expert says DoE’s multimillion push for minority physics researchers does not address underlying issues

$70 million injection of cash into physical science at universities that serve minority groups may do little to address long-standing disadvantages facing researchers from these communities, one expert has warned.

“The intention is good, but the amount of funding is quite small when one considers how many schools can claim the funds,” said Caroline Wagner, a science and technology policy researcher at Ohio State University.
