US president Joe Biden has nominated Arati Prabhakar to become the next director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, which advises the president and their administration on how science and technology could benefit the country.

Prabhakar (pictured), who formerly led the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, was nominated on 21 June. In addition to leading the OSTP, she would become Biden’s top science adviser, a member of his cabinet and co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
