Pandemic childcare hits female Arab researchers hard

Family responsibilities may “disrupt and derail careers” for female scholars, study author warns

Female researchers in Arab countries with young children were hit harder by the pandemic than their male colleagues, according to a study.

A survey of female humanities scholars living in Arab countries suggests their ability to work during Covid-19 may have been damaged more than most researchers. It suggests nearly three quarters of those with children became primary caregivers to their offspring during the pandemic.
