In a change to our ‘Top PI’ format, we learn how to thrive without bidding
University of Oxford professor Danny Dorling is well known beyond his field of human geography thanks to his meticulous analyses of social, wealth and health inequalities around the world. However, Dorling’s success has mostly been built not on scoring major research grants, but on dedicating his non-teaching time to preparing books and papers and working on low-budget projects with others.
