ARC preprint ban ‘decided in-house’

   

No consultation with stakeholders was held before Australian Research Council banned preprint citations in applications

The Australian Research Council did not consult any outside authorities before deciding to ban references to preprint papers in grant applications.

Answers published on 22 September to questions asked in the Senate back in August reveal that the rule was introduced by the ARC in September 2020 with the aim “to ensure consistency and fairness”.
