South Australian universities relatively stable despite pandemic

Annual reports show research income success, but restructuring is on the cards at Adelaide

Reports tabled in South Australia’s parliament show that the finances of the state’s three public universities have stayed relatively stable through the pandemic, although Adelaide has made cuts and is planning more.

Flinders University said its research income from federal government block grants increased by 25 per cent to A$68 million in 2020. The university’s total research income was up about 5 per cent, at A$84m.
