EU R&D programme intended to promote autonomy, enhance sustainability, boost digitisation and bolster society
The European Commission has set out four strategic priorities for the first four years of the 2021-27 EU R&D programme, Horizon Europe. The priorities will shape the funding calls primarily in the programme’s second pillar, focused on global challenges and industrial competitiveness.
The four ‘strategic orientations’, set out in a strategic plan for Horizon Europe published by the Commission on 15 March, are focused on technological independence; environmental sustainability; digitisation; and societal resilience.
