Political groups split on EU innovation fund budget freeze

European Parliament political groups come out for and against holding back European Innovation Council money

Political groups in the European Parliament have expressed mixed support for freezing the budget of the EU’s equity-based innovation fund for startups, ahead of a vote this week.

Some individual MEPs have called for part of the budget of the European Innovation Council to be held back, owing to concerns about how the fund is being managed and decisions that led to about a year-long delay in its Accelerator scheme making equity-based investments in small companies.
