Iter fusion facility pays tribute after head dies aged 72

Deputy takes over temporarily while Iter finds replacement for Bernard Bigot

Bernard Bigot, the head of the Iter international nuclear fusion research facility, died on 14 May at the age of 72.

The Iter Organization, which runs the under-construction facility in France, said that Bigot (pictured) died “due to illness” and praised him as an “inspirational leader for more than four decades across multiple fields of science and energy”.
