Funds for ‘centre of excellence’ aim to tempt timid European investors towards life-science start-ups
The European Commission has committed to co-investing €150 million from an EU investment scheme through the Venture Centre of Excellence programme, a matchmaking mechanism for private investors and life-science start-up companies.
Announced on 5 October, the investment comes from the European Fund for Strategic Investments, a spending pot set up in 2015 to drive private investment in the EU. It will be co-invested in companies alongside private money.
