Commission wants Europe to be ‘world hub’ of space innovation

“Scattered and inefficient” approach to extraterrestrial enterprise is holding the continent back, says commissioner

The European commissioner for the EU’s single market, Thierry Breton, has said he wants Europe to be the centre of space innovation, as he provided details of a new flagship project on secure connectivity intended to help the bloc make the most of its space capabilities.

“I want to position Europe as the hub of space entrepreneurship in the world,” Breton said at a 14 June European Commission workshop on the connectivity project.
