Pioneering policy provides up to 10 days off each year for affected staff
The National University of Ireland Galway has become the first higher education institution in the country to introduce paid domestic violence leave, allowing for up to 10 days a year.
The university said the policy would “provide a period of paid time away from work for staff members who have suffered or are suffering from domestic violence or abuse”, and enable them to obtain help in a “structured and supported environment”.
