Scientists victorious in court battle over animal research

EU-funded primate work given go-ahead after months of delay

A long court battle over the legitimacy of the use of primates for research in Italy ended late last month in celebrations for two university-based scientists.

A green light on 28 January from the Council of State, Italy’s top administrative court, means Marco Tamietto of the Università di Torino and Luca Bonini of the Università di Parma can resume their European Research Council-funded work on blindness.
