ChristenUnie MP calls for more support for basic research

During the coalition negotiations in 2017, the Christian democratic party ChristenUnie made a strong case to increase R&D spending in the Netherlands. As a result of this determination, an additional €200 million a year each was made available for basic research and innovation, says Eppo Bruins, an MP for the party.

Now, with another general election due next year, Bruins says that extra investment in R&D is needed again to tackle fundamental problems at universities.
