Swedish agriculture university finds confusion over causation and language issues in 215 journal articles

A study undertaken by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) has flagged problems with articles in the environmental sciences, including mix-ups between correlation and causation. 

The study looked at 215 articles on the effectiveness of environmental conservation measures and found confusing language, lack of evidence for causality and failure to include control measures. The authors warned that many of the articles were based on studies not designed to prove their initial hypothesis.
