Students from non-academic families more likely to drop out

   

University success in Denmark is down to social class more than money, a study finds

Danish students at bachelor and master’s levels are more inclined to drop out if they come from a non-academic background than from a family where higher education is the norm, a study has found.

A 12-year study of 200,000 students in Denmark demonstrated that students from non-academic homes had a 31 per cent risk of not completing their studies. But among students with parents who had completed higher education, just 15 per cent dropped out of university.
