Research policy advisers propose central mechanism to ensure better use of evidence in politics

Denmark’s government needs cross-sectoral advisory panels to improve evidence-based policymaking and encourage quick responses in emergencies, a study has found.

A report from Denmark’s Research and Innovation Policy Council, commissioned by the government, says the country has plenty of channels for scientific advice to politicians. But it says these are often insular and lack avenues for “cross-fertilisation”.
