Swiss R&D budget focuses on technology competence

Four-year R&D funding pot worth €424m to pay for 31 research institutions and centres

Switzerland will prioritise support for so-called technology competence centres in its 2021-24 public R&D budget, according to the country’s department of economics, education and research.

The budget, worth 460 million Swiss francs (€424m), will fund 31 research institutions “of national importance”, including seven technology competence centres. These will have the goal of establishing “a systematic link between university research and the private sector with a view to knowledge and technology transfer”, the department said on 21 December.
