Leaders Frans Timmermans and Han Zheng stress cooperation on climate change as international relations sour

Amid increasingly hostile relations between Europe and China, European Commission vice-president Frans Timmermans and China’s vice-premier Han Zheng have stressed that they continue to see eye to eye on the importance of tackling climate change.

The relatively rare moment of harmony between the two powers comes amid escalating tensions over Taiwan and other topics, and ahead of the COP climate conference in Glasgow, which researchers say must endorse stronger action to tackle global warming.
