Researchers ‘should be involved in policy’ to tackle climate change

Climate policy workshop emphasises importance of involvement in policymaking and greater public outreach

Involving researchers in policymaking around climate change will be “essential” in helping the world reach carbon neutrality, according to a report by Science Europe, an association of major research funders and performers.

Presenting the conclusions of a policy workshop on the role of science in tackling climate change, the report stresses “the importance of drawing on expertise at the local, regional and (inter)national level”, as well as of coordinating smoother communications between researchers and policymakers as countries make the transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions.
