Banning animal use of some antimicrobials will help fight resistance, Commission says

The European Commission has welcomed a decision from EU member states to establish a list of antimicrobials that cannot be used on animals, saying it will help to combat the crisis of resistance.

“Through this measure, the EU preserves the efficacy of antimicrobials that are of paramount importance for human health,” the Commission said following the 4 July decision.
