Biomedical Alliance in Europe says code could help facilitate use of data in research

A new European health data initiative should help to develop guidelines for the ethical use of health-related data in research, according to medical societies.

Proposals for the European Health Data Space (EHDS), announced by the European Commission in 2022, would create a new legal framework for using health-related data in healthcare and research. But an ethical code for the use of health data in research is also needed, according to the Biomedical Alliance in Europe.
