Lockdown freezes universities as Covid cases rise

  

New Zealand extends nationwide shutdown, leaving university projects and classes in limbo

Universities and research institutions across New Zealand remain closed as the country battles its worst Covid-19 outbreak of 2021.

On 23 August, the government announced that the whole country would remain in lockdown until 31 August as the number of Covid-19 cases in New Zealand continues to climb. Government statistics show that there have been 107 community cases so far in this outbreak, and the daily infection has reached 35 cases.
