Health ministry brings Pharmac into the fold

Medical agency to work with New Zealand ministry’s research unit, despite transparency concerns

New Zealand’s Ministry of Health has created a division devoted to health research as part of the restructuring of the health system—and says it will ensure that the medicines agency Pharmac works closely with the new unit.

A ministry spokesperson told Research Professional News that the new Evidence, Research and Innovation directorate would include a “research and innovation group” that would oversee the ministry’s research policy.
