Institute of Physics’ Richard Glazebrook Medal goes to Ian Chapman for work on fusion energy

The chief executive of the UK Atomic Energy Authority has been recognised for his “exceptional leadership in fusion technology and the field of physics”.

Ian Chapman, who has led the government research organisation since 2016, was awarded the Institute of Physics’ Richard Glazebrook Medal 2021 for his “outstanding” work at the organisation and for the progress it has delivered in plasma physics, deuterium-tritium experiments, robotics and new materials, the government announced on 29 November.
