But Joint European Torus is on course to shut down in 2024

The UK-based Joint European Torus nuclear-fusion research facility will continue running until the end of 2023, but it is likely to shut down after that, Research Professional News can reveal.

Jet is one of the world’s largest and most advanced tokamaks—a machine for confining plasma to produce fusion. It is “the focal point of the European fusion research programme” used by hundreds of scientists from around Europe each year, according to the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, where it is based.
