G7 leaders criticised for ‘missed opportunities’

Welcome Trust and Royal Society “disappointed” by specifics agreed to combat pandemic and biodiversity loss

G7 leaders’ commitments on climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic fall short of what is needed, according to two of the UK’s major scientific institutions.

Among the pledges agreed by political leaders from the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States at the Cornwall summit this week, is a commitment to provide 870 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines over the next year.
