Peers worry about Tory PM candidates’ ‘silence’ on R&D

John Krebs and Julia King urge next PM to “at least maintain science-superpower ambition”

Two influential peers have called on the next UK prime minister to put science and technology “at the heart of government”, as they complained that the two leadership candidates have so far been “virtually silent” on R&D.

The comments came as a House of Lords Science and Technology Committee report identified a range of failings in the government’s science policy, and called for numerous clarifications and “laser focus on [the] implementation” of various plans and spending targets.
