UKRI ethnicity data reveal lack of funded Black academics

   

Black academics made up less than 1 per cent of 2018-19 UKRI-funded principal investigators

Detailed ethnicity data published by UK Research and Innovation has exposed the underrepresentation of Black researchers across its funding portfolio.

Figures published by the funder from the years 2014-15 to 2018-19 show that the proportion of awardees from ethnic minorities has increased overall for fellows, co-investigators and principal investigators.
