Ottoline Leyser ‘profoundly sorry’ over bullying at UKRI

Chief executive apologises as funder announces updates to its standard operating procedure for whistleblowing investigations

The chief executive of UK Research and Innovation has said she is “profoundly sorry” that staff have experienced bullying and harassment, as the national funder announced updates to its whistleblowing policies.

“This year we took action in response to an independent investigation we commissioned into a bullying and harassment complaint,” she wrote in UKRI’s 2021-22 annual report, published on 20 July.
