Independent Sage calls for ban on ‘in-person teaching’ at universities

Unofficial advisory group’s plan to avoid another national lockdown also includes ‘rebuilding the testing system’

The group of high-profile scientists at the self-appointed Independent Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies has proposed a ban on face-to-face teaching in universities to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The proposal forms part of a 10-point plan to avoid another national lockdown. Other measures include funding schools to set up smaller classes and “rebuilding” the nation’s coronavirus testing system.
