MPs criticise DfE and OfS over approach to university finance

Public accounts committee calls on ministers and the regulator to improve financial monitoring

The Department for Education and the Office for Students have been strongly criticised in a public accounts committee report into the financial stability of England’s higher education sector.

In a report published on 15 June, the cross-party group of MPs said it did not believe the OfS had shown ​​sufficient progress in “getting a grip on the long-term systemic challenges facing the sector and individual providers”.
