NHS staffing crisis prompts call for medical students to help out on wards

Medical students and trainees should be deployed on hospital wards in order to support the NHS as it faces mounting pressure on frontline services, healthcare bosses have said.

The NHS Confederation, which represents the healthcare system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, says that millions of patients could see the quality of care they receive deteriorate unless the government takes “urgent steps” to help alleviate the pressure.
