Local election results hint at new trends for UK politics and higher education

The local election results in England, Scotland and Wales will have put paid to the prospects for a general election next year and upped the ante in discussions over the future of Boris Johnson as Conservative leader.

The full results of Thursday’s election from Southampton to South Armagh make for uneasy reading for the Conservatives.
