Learning lessons from the University of Michigan for tackling racial inequities in biomedical research funding

In 2011, the first major study documenting racial disparity in United States research funding was published.

It focused on the government’s national funder of biomedical research, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and found that Black or African American scientists were less likely to receive grants than white scientists.
