US research community welcomes federal guidance on collaborative research involving people

The academic community in the United States has welcomed new guidance on reviewing proposals for collaborative research involving humans, and the opportunity to provide feedback, saying that more work must be done to better define the scope of the rules.

The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published draft guidance this month on how institutions should review proposals for human research to be conducted by more than one institution.
