Mixed reception for Biden’s 2024 budget proposal

Proposal would give massive uplift to NSF, but much smaller increase to NIH

The Biden administration’s budget proposal for the coming financial year has received a mixed reception, with critics saying that health-related research should have been given more funding.

Published by the White House on 9 March, the proposal includes $209.7 billion for federal R&D, which is $8.9bn (4.4 per cent) more than what the 2023 budget for it ended up being.
